
MARCUS MCKINLEY
“No matter what we are creating, we are honoring the essence within us!” -Marcus McKinley.
Marcus McKinley was born in Auburn, New York. His family then relocated to Portland, Oregon where he spent most of his years. There, Marcus began honing his skills and coming into his own as an artist. He graduated from Oregon State University with dual degrees in Fine Arts and Sociology. While attending Oregon State Marcus McKinley began exhibiting his paintings at the Memorial Union Art Museum on the Oregon State campus. A career path, has led Marcus McKinley to teaching high school art classes, counseling at-risk youth of Portland, Oregon and served the youth of Atlanta as a Fulton County Juvenile Court probation officer before his recent retirement. Exhibitions of his paintings have included exhibits in Canada, Portland, OR, Atlanta, GA, Cherry Lion Gallery, Abernathy Arts Center, and the High Museum of Art, Woodruff Arts Center, amongst others. Marcus McKinley is the recipient of the NAACP National Artist Award.
